One of the signature events of our Center will occur next month when we host the 2012 Rural Health and Public Policy Forum at the Arizona State Capitol on Thursday, January 19th. This longstanding event, in which we partner with the Arizona Rural Health Association and the Arizona Public Health Association, promises to be an interesting day.
Some of the topics our speakers and panel members will address include health insurance exchange, the pre-existing condition insurance program, health information exchange, the state of American Indian healthcare, the state of public health, and healthcare for children. In addition, we will have a featured presentation by Laura Tobler from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), a bi-partisan group which does research on a variety of topics for state legislatures. She will provide us with a national perspective and rural health policy issues across the country. We will end our day with a panel discussion on how to have your healthcare story told in the media.
The Rural Health and Publiv Policy Forum has to be the best deal out there among healthcare conferences as the registration fee is only $45 (and that includes lunch!). We also invite our current state legislators to the forum so we hope to have to opportunity to network with those individuals.
