Drug Survival 102: An Interprofessional Exercise on the Opioid Epidemic

Note: The Interprofessional Education Certificate portion is closed for further registration, however the main event is open to all.
This Drug Survival Interprofessional Exercise on the Opioid Epidemic brings together the campus community with approximately 500 UAHS students to introduce them to real time understanding of the opioid epidemic and the community response, expose them to risk reduction methodology and practice, train in drug testing strategies, train in the administration of Naloxone for the purpose of overdose reversal and discuss a college age scenario and the varied reactions that might occur.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Monday, March 2, 2020, 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. Drug Survival Interprofessional Education will consist of:
- Presentations: Experts who work with opioids and community drug use
- Q & A via Poll Everywhere after the panel presentation
- Training: drug testing for fentanyl and Naloxone administration
- Healthcare student discussion in interprofessional groups
- D2L assignments: Pre-event readings; pre and post event online surveys
