Oral Health Integration Interprofessional Education Event

The medical/dental divide has been an ongoing challenge for over 100 years. Numerous reports have been written that outline the need for integration of the medical and dental professions. Most describe the need for interprofessional education to break down the barriers between the two professions. This event will open with a nationally known charismatic speaker who is a leading researcher in cardiology. Dr. Brian Novy will set the stage for understanding the systemic link between poor oral health and poor overall health. On day two of the event a panel of four experts who have successfully integrated oral health into their healthcare practices will share their experiences. And, finally on the third day of the event the Head, Ears, Eyes, Nose, Oral Cavity and Throat (HEENT) exam will be described and demonstrated so health practitioners can implement their new learning.
