Biography

Susan Coates, MBA, supports the Arizona Center for Rural Health (AzCRH) in expanding its health and public health analytic and information dissemination capabilities. In her role as Database Specialist, Ms. Coates is engaged in building a state-focused health workforce data system. Her work encompasses the planning and implementing processes to enable the collection, cleaning and analysis of health workforce data from primary and secondary data sources. 

Prior to CRH, Ms. Coates participated in the Federal Government’s Race to the Top - Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) grant at the Public Education Department (PED) at the State of NM. Under the grant, she contributed to the Early Childhood Integrated Data System (ECIDS), an interagency collaboration between the PED; Department of Health; and Children, Youth and Families Department, by mapping and aligning data systems. She was also instrumental in the development of the Kindergarten Observation Tool (KOT) as the database administrator. Prior to the PED, Ms. Coates worked at the United Way of Santa Fe County in Santa Fe, NM as the Chief Information Officer.

Ms. Coates is a graduate of New Mexico Highlands University Master of Business Administration in Las Vegas, NM in 2011 and Smith College in Northampton, MA in 1974.
