Opioid Stewardship Assessment Program for Arizona Critical Access Hospitals

AzCRH Webinar Series

When

noon to 1 p.m., April 21, 2022

Arizona Center for Rural Health (AzCRH) and Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) collaborated in 2021 to assess the opioid stewardship program (OSP) implementation in Arizona’s 17 critical access hospitals’ (CAHs) acute care and emergency departments (EDs). In this webinar, we will describe the 11 OSP components that were assessed, the assessment instrument, and our approach to surveying CAH leadership teams at each hospital. We explain the assessment results and how AzCRH and HSAG are using the findings to assist CAHs in identifying barriers and gaps in their current programs, and strategies and resources to enhance their OSP. The OSP assessment is the foundation of a quality improvement initiative to provide ongoing technical assistance and support hospitals in enhancing their Opioid Stewardship Programs.

Learning objectives:

  1. Describe Opioid Stewardship Programs,
  2. Explain differences and similarities in initiative implementation by department setting and prevention orientation at Arizona Critical Access Hospitals
  3. Understand how assessment information is used to guide technical assistance and quality improvement efforts.
