Maria Losoya
Location: Santa Cruz County, serving Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties
Maria Losoya is a Health Educator and Community Outreach Specialist for the Arizona Center for Rural Health. Maria works with Critical Access Hospitals and Rural Health Clinics under the AZ Flex project. Maria aims to improve access to preventive and emergency health care services for rural populations. She also collaborates with community partner organizations to provide education and outreach that best supports the needs of the community. Maria has been a licensed and Certified Assister since 2015 and assists Arizonans in understanding and enrolling in health insurance. In her role as a Certified Assistor, she is based in Santa Cruz County and focuses on serving rural and underserved populations.
Maria was born and raised in Mexico and emigrated to the United States in 1974. She started her career as a volunteer advocate for Mariposa Community Health Center in 1995. She was hired at Health Start-Comienzo Sano as a health promoter. From 1999-2008, she worked for South Eastern Arizona Behavioral Health Services. In 2009, she advocated for Immigrant rights while working with victims of domestic violence and emigrant women for Border Action-Accion Fronteriza. In 2012, she earned her degree in Social Services from Pima Community College. From 2010-2014, she worked for Hands of a Friend Foundation as a program coordinator. Maria is committed to serving rural communities and families to grow and create a better future.
