Charles Drake

Data Architect III

Charles Drake is a Data Architect III with the Arizona Center for Rural Health. He specializes in software systems architecture and design, data warehouse (DW) architecture and design, and business intelligence (BI) reporting. He is working on the UArizona Healthcare Workforce Data System, which is an extended set of healthcare workforce data, medical facility data, and population/community data by area. He is also working on providing data sets, reports, visualizations, and interactive data analytics to UArizona faculty, researchers, legislators, and healthcare providers. 

Charles has over twenty-two years’ experience as an IT manager, software designer and developer, database designer and developer, and college instructor. Most recently, he was the Engineering Manager for a mid-market financial institution, overseeing a team of software engineers developing web applications, system integrations and creating DW/BI solutions. Prior to that, he worked for UArizona’s Center for Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics as a senior programmer, and Pima County, AZ, as an IT Manager and programmer. He also taught college students programming, database design, and mathematics. 

Skilled in: Relational database architecture and design, SQL programming, data transformation and integration, report development using Power BI Reporting Services, cross-functional team leadership, software project management, business process analysis, data analysis and modeling, change management, contract negotiation.

Programming Languages: Software application development using C#.NET, ASP.NET, T-SQL, HTML, XML, JSON, API and REST services development using Microsoft Visual Studio

Education: M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, and a M.S. in Computing Systems from City University in Bellevue, Washington.
