Saira S Kalia, MD, MBBS, is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona, and Director for the Arizona Perinatal Psychiatry Access Line and the Arizona Pediatric Psychiatry Access Line. Dr. Kalia’s residency was completed at the University of Arizona in Tucson in 2016, during which time she earned the American Psychiatric Association’s Resident Recognition Award. Her contributions to the field of perinatal psychiatry include launching the Psychiatry Department’s Perinatal Psychiatry Training Track and Clinical Service and working to expand the department’s services in this area. She has served as Outpatient Medical Director and Associate training director. Dr. Kalia provides national trainings for the Postpartum Support International (PSI) organization and has made contributions to the National Curriculum of Reproductive Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association’s first Textbook of Women’s Reproductive Mental Health. She is a well-regarded educator and leader, having won multiple teaching awards including the Arizona Psychiatric Society’s Howard E. Wuslin Excellence in Education Award in 2020 and the 2024 University of Arizona Women in Medicine Torchbearer award. Known for her patient-centered care and dedication to education, Dr. Kalia is well-regarded in the Tucson community and has received numerous accolades for her clinical and administrative work.
